Wonderful graduation story for an exciting weekend!

Mehmet Barzev, age 38, is graduating from East Stroudsburg University this May with a degree in English with a concentration in professional and digital media writing.

For more than 20 years Barzev, from South Stroudsburg, has been thriving in his career as a paramedic for the City of Allentown’s Department of Emergency Management Services.  But he says that the fact that he had never finished his bachelor’s degree has haunted him for years. So that exchange with his 11-year-old daughter, Lucy, stopped him cold and convinced him to complete his degree. READ MORE.

ESU proud to unveil Bloomberg Lab this month

East Stroudsburg University will celebrate the opening of its Bloomberg Finance Lab on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall followed by guided tours of the Lab located in Gessner Hall, Room 117.

The Bloomberg Finance Lab features the Bloomberg Terminal used by leading business and financial professionals worldwide.

Troiani-Sweeney lecture series looks at concussion care

The Troiani-Sweeney Endowed Fund Lecture Series at ESU was held in the Niedbala Auditorium on Thursday, March 22. This year’s keynote address by Jane McDevitt ‘01, Ph.D., was titled “The Evidence Based Approach to Concussion Care.” The lecture also included a demonstration of the new Riddell InSite football helmets worn by the ESU Warriors by athletic trainers Colleen Shotwell Ph.D. and Jayme Galdieri. Congratulations to Men’s Basketball for a great run!

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Redshirt senior forward Steve Harris scored a career-high 28 points in his final collegiate game and redshirt junior guard Jakwan Jones had 15, but East Stroudsburg University’s historic 2017-18 men’s basketball season and the first NCAA Division II Elite 8 appearance in school history ended 79-71 vs. Northern State (S.D.) on Tuesday night at the Sanford Pentagon. Congrats to Men’s Basketball – PSAC Champs!

East Stroudsburg University used an 18-4 run midway through the first half to take a commanding lead and won the fourth PSAC men’s basketball championship in program history, and third in the last seven years, with an 89-67 win over Gannon on Sunday at Koehler Fieldhouse. READ MORE.

Nominations for Presidential Medals being taken

The President’s Distinguished Medal honors those who exemplify the values of ESU and are committed to the principles of intellectual integrity, freedom of expression, the fair and equal treatment of all, good citizenship, and environmental stewardship.

The President’s Distinguished Medal is the highest honor the university can award to an individual or organization and it is awarded at the discretion of the President of East Stroudsburg University.

Established by ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph. D. the University Medal has three categories: community leader, corporation/foundation, and current or retired faculty/staff.

The President’s Office welcomes nominations regarding outstanding individuals for the President’s Distinguished Medal. Nominees should be individuals whose life and work has enhanced the community, state, nation or world. Special consideration will be given to those who meet these requirements and who are distinguished by their support for East Stroudsburg University. Nominations are accepted at any time.
